Joe Cabibbo was Born in 1964 and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. As a youth, Joe was always interested in physical fitness and weight training. In 1983, he had built his own fitness center in a garage located in the rear of his childhood home. It was there that he would gather with close friends and they would work out together. After marrying, he belonged to several area fitness centers and would be sure to make it a point to get a workout in even if he had just finished working a 12-14 hour day at the dye house.

Immediately after graduating High School in 1982, Joe went to work in the Textile Industry.  He went on to become the youngest Textile Colorist in the State of New Jersey.  In 1997 the Textile Industry began to move there operations outside the state, as well as, over-seas.  With a wife and 2 children to support, Joe saw the writing on the wall and before the unraveling of the Textile Industry, he made his career change.

Because of Joe's love of physical fitness and weight training, made his career change an easy transition.  He went back to school and attained a Certification as a Personal Trainer. In 1999, he had left the textile industry and accepted a job opportunity as a Personal Trainer for Odyssey Athletic Center. Joe quickly gained the respect and admiration of his new employer at Odyssey, as well as, the clients he recruited and trained.  In 2000, he was promoted to head the Personal Training Department at Odyssey Athletic Center. As word of mouth spread about the services Joe offered, he had more clients knocking at his door but not enough time in the day to help them all. With that, he began to recruit other certified personal trainers. He would instruct them on the secrets to successfully helping others in achieving their fitness goals and objectives. In 2001, Joe decided to branch out further and began his own company he called Unique Fitness. Under Unique Fitness, he still offered his services through Odyssey. In 2003, Joe was offered the opportunity to purchase Odyssey Athletic Center. He moved forward and purchased Odyssey in September of 2003.

When I asked Joe about his greatest professional achievements, he went on to tell about the years he coached kids in football, baseball, soccer and basketball for Midland Park and one client in particular with Multiple Sclerosis, who gave him the best compliment any personal trainer could ever receive; she attributes her ability to walk without being confined to a wheelchair to Joe’s services to her over the years.  As for Joe's personal achievements, it goes with out saying, it's without a doubt his family.

Today, Joe continues to offer his Personal Training Services at Odyssey to the clients he has had since 1999.  Along with owning Odyssey Athletic Center, he is also the General Manager.  If you ask Joe why he takes on so much, he will tell you he prefers the hands on approach to operating a business, as well as being able to interact with the Club Members on a daily basis. Although he takes on limited clients these days, he continues to recruit, hire and train all of the Personal Trainers at Odyssey Athletic Center.
